{ Tis the Season }

Is it too early to be dreaming of CHRISTMAS!!! There is nothing better cold snowy nights filled with
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Smore's {my husband is the ultimate smore maker!!}
  • Cuddling up on the sofa
  • warm woollen knits {i cant wait to fill my wardrobe with my winter wear!!}
  • the amazing smell of pine, cinnamon, red berry's
  • Christmas Trees
  • Twinkle lights --- along with LOTS of decorations
  • and of course PRESENTS!!
This year we will definitely be full of making new traditions and bringing both our families traditions together !!... We are planning on finding and cutting down our own little Christmas Tree --- which I am extremely excited for.

However Christmas is 86 days away, and before we get winter we get Autumn or as the American call it "Fall" --- a season full of Halloween, {Thanksgiving} ... and my personal favourite Bonfire night --- shame the only way i'll be able to celebrate, is eating Banoffee Pie, toffee apples, and if i'm lucky smore's by the fire pit!! I can't wait to decorate our little apartment for all the upcoming holidays --- and i'll start with cute little pumpkins for halloween!!!

Happy Holidays Everyone

{ Home.Sweet.Home }

There is nothing I LOVE more than being at home and spending time with my hubby! Especially nights where we do absolutely nothing but 'BE' together!!  This week has been full of painting, cuddles, hot baths, way too much TV, alot of giggles {mainly over my husbands amazing dance moves} and of course FINALLY FINISHING OUR DRESSER!!

Lucky for me, Sam has had less homework than usual this week --- {or it sure felt like it} --- which meant we were able to take a date night to the Real Salt Lake football {soccer} game. {yes I will always use my "British" words}

The game was amazing, RSL beat Portland Timbers 2-1 which meant they were through to the playoffs!!!

Also Saturday i was able to Finish completely refurbishing our cute little dresser --- {I absolutely LOVE it!!} I can't wait to get it into our apartment!!

{Before and After}

We were so lucky to get our hands on this beautiful dresser!! Sam's neighbours were throwing it out and i'm alway looking for something crafty to do --- Before there were dints, stains, deep scratches all over the table top --- so I used a electric sander and sanded it right down, until the surface was completely smooth. I even sanded some of the draw faces which had indents from the previous handles! I then used a Satin Based wood stain, in the colour I liked {I think mine was Chestnut} --- which ended up alittle light for my liking so i added an extra couple of coats! FINALLY when the stain was completely dry, the bottom was ready to paint.. I started with a primer, followed by 3 coats of the paint colour I liked --- AND poof ... our cute dresser!!!

This week I have also tried being a better little housewife --- which means trying to cook meals i've never done before! --- {Sam being my Guinea pig of course}
  • Toad in the Hole - success {an english classic}
  • Baked potato soup - success
  • Marinated Salmon - Success
  • Sunday Roast {English Style} - Sam's new favourite
  • And tonight Beef Stew!!
Wish me Luck!!

Pinterest in Full Force!

Last night my Husband told me i'm far too addicted to Pinterest... but come on ladies who isn't?? I am a major LOVER of anything crafty whether its scrap-booking or refurbishing furniture I love it!!

While Sam was away in China for the summer {yes - 6 weeks of pure torture}, I was able to get "creative" and {D.I.Y} anything and everything for the wedding. I even managed to make some cute pieces for our little home!

From Top to bottom:

  • { The Skanchy Family - August 14th 2012 } One of my Pinterest "pins" - this was one of my parents old kitchen cabinets which i sanded, painted ivory, and finished by painting the letters in a grey/silver - {it took forever but i love it}
  • Before and after!
  • Cute little home sign
  • Painted and distressed picture frame, with burlap and button "S" {for Skanchy of course} - hanging cute in our bathroom!!
  • painted wooden arrows with letters stuck on for wedding decorations {in my wedding colours - mint green and ivory}
  • My "Fall" wreath {I am loving the halloween wreath ideas on Pinterest - hurry up October!!}
  • Beginning to spray paint everything ivory!!
We have been sooo lucky this week, Sam's Parents neighbours {a mouthful i know} gave us the most beautiful dresser... which means ANOTHER PROJECT!! Sanding, staining, painting its been a week and i still haven't finished {extremely time consuming} Finished pictures will of course follow!

As I am new to blogging I am looking for cute blogs to follow ... please comment with a link to your site if you would like me to follow you :)

The Beginning of Eternity!

Its been a month since we finally tied the knot!! Yes.. an 8 month engagement isn't that long, but it felt like an eternity. I'm Olivia and my better half (yes he likes to remind me he's the more attractive one) is Sam.

We met a February 2011 at a LDSA sorority/fraternity party at the University of Utah (where we both study), of course he loved my "british" accent and i was intrigued by his arm being in a sling, which he told me he had torn his pectoral muscle saving a fat man from a burning car while his (buffer) friends saved puppies from the back. I hate to admit it but i believed this for 5months until he was laughing about it with one of his friends!  Ever since we met we have been inseparable, with the big test taking him to England last summer to meet my extended family! i clearly passed because he didn't go running at the sight amazing yet  crazy family! Apart from my dad making him try some awful foods and not being able to understand some of my aunties (coff coff Jackle) It was great to show him where i grew up!

He finally Popped the question on new years eve!!! We hadn't had much time together the week before so he promised he would take me out for a lovely dinner before we went to a friends party. He took me to Tuscany and the dinner was delicious, i do remember asking why we had come to such an expensive place haha. Leaving the restaurant to the party he stopped at a bench that looked over the city and said we should get out and see if its going to be a good place to see the fireworks, i told him no its too cold, i can see from the car its going to be perfect, but he insisted.. we got to the bench and hidden underneath he pulled out a huge bunch of roses and got down on one knee.. of course i cried and when i said yes his family set fireworks off for us! i really couldn't have wished for a more perfect proposal!

Finally i was ready to plan our wedding!! August 14th was so far away and the thought of Sam leaving me for 6weeks studying Chinese in China made it a long Engagement, but was so worth it when our wedding day was the best day of my LIFE!!

Can't wait to show pictures soon!!
